LETTER TO ATA
|
Dear Great Leader Atatürk,
Everyday I’m thinking of you, I look at your picture, you are
just opposite me in the class. You are always smiling at me and
my friends and supporting us. I know why you are smiling.
Because you love us, the hardworking Turkish children.
I like 1881 the most... because you were born in this year. The
destiny of Turkish people has changed with you. On the day you
went to Samsun 1919 was born. You told the good news, the
liberation of Turkish people on that day.
I like 1920 too... because it includes the 23rd April, the Turkish
Parliament. It has Children's Day, the most important day for
children, the day you gave us as a present. We expect this day
with great happiness. We dress our school with flags and our
street with flowers. We read poems, sing our national anthem. We meet
children from other countries and celebrate this day together.
And this makes our happiness greater.
I love 1923 with all my heart. 29th October is the most
important day for Turkish people.
You founded the Turkish Republic and now we live independently.
We know you better and embrace your principles. with the
education we have. We promise to elevate the republic you
founded.
I don’t like 1938, especially November, especially 10th
November. I am so sad that I cannot explain it. Then you, Atatürk
on the class wall, help me. You tell me "Don’t be sad my dear
child" with your glance. You tell me "You are here; your friends
are here so I still live". At this moment all my sadness is
gone. Then I think of 1938 in the same way as 1881. I think of one
of them as the year you were born and the other as the year the
other Atatürks were born.
When I feel how millions of Atatürks are born from just one, I
want to hug all the dates that remind me of you and put them
in my heart, and at this moment my heart gets bigger and bigger.
I feel I am just like Atatürk.
I’m very happy my dear Ata, because we have a great leader like
you and a great day which hug all the children in the world.
