Doğuş Schools have been accredited by the Council of International Schools – CIS on 04 June 2010.

This accreditation is a proof of our schools’ being equipped with the same educational standards as many other schools all over the world.

Doğuş Schools have been accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools)

After having been visited by CIS Visiting Team in March 2010, all the institutions of Doğuş Schools have been awarded with the accreditation of CIS as one entity on 4th of June, 2010.

In July 2003 the Council of International Schools (CIS) took over responsibility for the Accreditation Service which the European Council of International Schools ECIS (founded in 1965) had been offering to schools since 1970. CIS is an independent, non-profit, membership organisation of approximately 650 international schools in approximately 110 countries throughout the world. Presently 12 Schools in Turkey have been accredited by CIS.

The dictionary meaning of accreditation is the act of granting credit or recognition. Approved to meet the CIS standards for accreditation, over 290 schools all around the world have been accredited by CIS, which is an authorized and respected organization.

CIS accreditation is a process through which the educational performance is assessed and recommendations are made for the improvement of schools and the grant of which indicates that the school has reached an internationally recognized standard with a genuine dedication to continual growth. CIS accreditation offers an international based evaluation for schools including kindergartens, primary schools and high schools, an evaluation instrument designed specifically for international schools. It also offers a precise evaluation of the highest professional standard and a cost-effective program,which can be retained subject to regular monitoring.

What is accreditation process?

The ultimate goal of having accreditation is to increase "the quality of education and student satisfaction.

  • It aims to foster excellence through all stages and aspects of school-based education
  • It encourages school improvement through on-going self-study and peer review
  • It provides an educational programme of high quality which is based upon a clearly defined Philosophy and Objectives, suitable for the unique school population, and which meets the demanding standards drawn up by CIS.

The award of accreditation shows that:

  • The school is devoted to its mission. It cares enough about what it does to seek validation by a recognized accreditation authority.
    The school knows itself. It has thought deeply about the services it offers to students, family and community.
  • The school is student-orientated. Its philosophy of education is suitable for the students on roll, and encompasses the development of the whole individual.
  • The school keeps its promises. It promises only what it can deliver
  • The school accepts objective assessment. It is prepared to open its doors periodically to regular evaluation by the school community and by outside experienced evaluators.
  • The school is constantly seeking to improve its performance in curricular and other areas.
  • The school plans for the future. As part of the on-going nature of the evaluation process, accredited schools are continually planning future developments.

Accreditation ensures that the school meets the demanding CIS Standards in all school areas:

  • Governance and Management
  • Staff
  • Student Support Services
  • Resources
  • Student and Community Life

The fact that a school is accredited provides members of the community with the assurances outlined above.

With the award of accreditation, Doğuş Schools:

  • are the only schools in Turkey which have been fully accredited with all its schools as one entity
  • are the 2nd in Turkey that 2 kindergartens have been accredited together with the other schools.
  • are the only schools in Turkey that enriched and integrated National Curriculum with their own programs and all five schools have been accredited together without international programs such as IB,MYP,PYP.
  • Doğuş alumni, having a diploma of a CIS accredited school, will have the privilege of being accepted to the universities abroad when they apply for those universities, especially in USA.

Doğuş Schools, having the award of CIS accreditation, are in line with the international standards in terms of its curriculum which is used in the light of the philosophy and objectives, its administrative structure, staff, student services, resources and its student and community life.
